HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME FROM A FIRE THIS SEASON |
Fires are one of the most devastating events any homeowner can go through. Every year fires break out and can spread quickly without being noticed. There are several fire safety steps you can take to protect your home and the people inside. These steps should be done long before there is any risk of a fire. You want to be prepared ahead of time even if your area has a “fire season,” since not all fires will occur during this time. Every homeowner should practice these fire safety steps.

Spread the word about fire safety. Most fires are man-made. Learn about your state's laws concerning fires from the local fire department, health department or forestry office. Involve your family and ask questions. If you have young children, you may sign them up for a fire safety class (and take it with them). Also make sure they know not to play with any type of fire igniter. Tell all your relatives and friends how to practice fire safety.
Check the area around your home for fire hazards. Look in the region of your house and neighborhood for any type of fire hazards. When you spot one, report it immediately to the proper authorities. Don’t count on someone else reporting it.
Have a list of phone numbers handy. Keep all numbers you would need during a fire close by the phone. Teach any young children how to call 911 and what they should say. Make sure they know their correct address. You should also have these numbers programmed into your cell phone in case you are unable to access the home list.
Clear the route to your house. When a fire occurs, seconds matter. Make sure the emergency vehicles have easy access to your home. Get rid of any objects that would prevent them from doing this. Don’t forget to trim tree branches that are low and could cause problems for the big vehicles. Verify that your house number can be easily read in daylight and at night. If not, replace it with one that can. You want your home to be accessed quickly should a fire break out.
Plan and practice escape routes. You should have several escape routes designed. Make sure all members of the family are able to complete them. Select a place to meet and set a time to do so. This includes escape routes from inside your house and also from your house. You may have to evacuate the area, so you should plan for this. Create maps for all family members that contain the meeting place and time. | | |

ALL-CLEAN USA Employee Profile: Look Who's Working For You

Carol has been with ALL-CLEAN USA since August of 2004. She began her employment as cleaning tech, but was soon promoted to Cleaning Supervisor. Carol is very customer oriented and enjoys the process of helping people get their property re-established after a disaster.
She has been involved with many residential projects, as well as commercial fire & water restoration projects. She was instrumental in reviving the Dawson Education Center in Arkadelphia after their offices were heavily damaged by smoke. She is very thorough in her work, and expects the same from the people who work with her.
When not working, Carol is happily married for the past 16 years to her husband J.D. Guinn. They have two beautiful daughters, Ashley & Autumn. Ashley is in her senior year in high school, and involved in many school activities. Autumn is in the ninth grade and a member of the school marching band. When Carol and her family are not involved in the kids activities, they enjoy camping and hanging out with family and friends. She and her husband enjoy riding their motorcycle and taking in the local scenery.
